Fire Base 29 / Hill 824
This is what Chris Ross sent me:
Hey Ernie,
Though I sometimes touch base with your website for any new updates, it's been a while since I've been in contact with you.
Recently I was "poking around" and came upon an old "Unit Citation" that describes a battle that took place on Firebase #29 in May of 1968.
In my original text and pictures to you describing my time serving with the 4th ID in the Dak To area, I had mentioned FSB29 as my first "Infantry line company" assignment and that just prior to my assignment, there had been a fierce ground attack by the NVA. However, I did not know the details concerning that battle to overrun the firebase. I was attached to A 3/12 4th ID and though just an "NFG" was told about this battle for the firebase. The Unit Citation I found describes that battle in detail... and yes, it must have been Hell on earth!

Here is a Google Earth image of Hill 824 as it looks now in 2023.
Here is the same view with the page16 map overlaid on it.
And here is the overhead view of the map and hill.
